Ruinsara Tal

A Hidden Alpine Lake in the Himalayas

Trek to a Sacred Glacial Lake Nestled in the Valley of Gods

Ruinsara Tal, located at an altitude of 3,650 meters (11,975 ft) in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park, is one of the most scenic alpine lakes in Uttarakhand. Tucked deep into the Garhwal Himalayas, it lies beyond the ancient villages of Osla and Seema, and is often visited as an extension of the Har Ki Dun trek or as part of the Bali Pass expedition.

Surrounded by snow-draped peaks and lush alpine meadows, Ruinsara Tal is a sacred spot believed to be associated with the Pandavas from the Mahabharata.

Why Visit Ruinsara Tal?

Ruinsara Tal is ideal for those seeking a blend of spirituality, seclusion, and Himalayan wilderness. The lake reflects the towering peaks of Swargarohini, Kala Nag (Black Peak), and Bandarpunch, making it a photographer’s paradise.

It’s less crowded than other treks, allowing for peaceful camping, starry nights, and pristine nature. Whether you’re an explorer, a spiritual seeker, or an experienced trekker, this offbeat trail offers a deeply rewarding experience.
